Pakistan, Saudi Arabia welcome US–Iran talks reaching final stage
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia on Saturday welcomed the US–Iran negotiations entering their final stage, expressing hope that the development would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region.
Both Iran and the United States have indicated in recent weeks that discussions are nearing completion. The proposed framework follows the conflict that erupted in late February and was halted after Islamabad helped secure a ceasefire between the parties.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Faisal bin Farhan.

“They welcomed the US–Iran negotiations in their final stage, with the electronic signing ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, and expressed the hope that this important development will contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region,” it said.
The Saudi foreign minister appreciated Pakistan’s consistent and sustained efforts in support of mediation and dialogue throughout the process.
“Both sides also discussed the forthcoming Regional Four Foreign Ministers (R-4) meeting, scheduled to be held in Egypt later this month,” the statement concluded.
Pakistan, Switzerland hold 2nd call in 24 hours on US-Iran peace push
The foreign ministers of Pakistan and Switzerland spoke for the second time in less than 24 hours on Saturday, welcoming progress in efforts to secure a peace agreement between the US and Iran amid reports of a possible deal-signing in Geneva.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dar held a telephone conversation with his Swiss counterpart Ignazio Cassis, during which both sides welcomed the “encouraging progress” toward an understanding between Washington and Tehran.

The two ministers expressed hope that ongoing diplomatic efforts would soon contribute to peace and stability in the Middle East and agreed to remain in close contact.
The latest conversation came a day after Cassis spoke with Dar and praised Pakistan’s mediation role amid reports that a possible US-Iran agreement could be signed in Geneva.
Dar, Egypt’s Abdelatty discuss regional situation
Earlier, DPM Dar spoke late last night with Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA).
In a post on X, MoFA said the two leaders discussed the latest developments in the regional situation and welcomed the positive momentum in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at promoting regional peace and stability.
According to the ministry, they expressed hope that an early and constructive outcome in the ongoing engagement between the United States and Iran would be reached, contributing to lasting peace and stability in the region.

Both sides also agreed to remain in close contact and continue consultations on matters of mutual interest, the ministry added.
On Friday, DPM Ishaq Dar and European Union High Representative/Vice President Kaja Kallas welcomed recent progress towards a US–Iran understanding and expressed hope for a durable agreement in a phone call, according to the MoFA.

According to an official statement, the Foreign Office said the discussion focused on recent developments in US–Iran engagement, with both sides “welcoming the progress achieved through sustained diplomatic engagement” and expressing hope that these efforts would “soon lead to a durable understanding and peaceful resolution”.

They reaffirmed that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means to resolve conflicts and advance lasting peace and stability.” The two leaders also discussed broader regional developments during the conversation.
The Foreign Office said the exchange reflected a shared commitment to diplomatic engagement as the preferred path for resolving international disputes.
Pakistan has played a key role in facilitating contacts between the two sides since helping broker a ceasefire in April.
On Friday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the US and Iran had reached an agreement on a “final text” for a pact aimed at ending the conflict.
PM Shehbaz said Islamabad was now working closely with both governments to finalise the remaining steps, adding that “peace has never been this close.”
His comments followed a statement by US President Donald Trump on Thursday saying he had cancelled planned airstrikes on Iran and that negotiations had advanced significantly.
