Dar underscores need for uninterrupted energy supplies, safe passage of ships in call with Iranian FM
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister (FM) Ishaq Dar on Saturday underscored the need for uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe passage of ships during a phone call with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
According to the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the two foreign ministers discussed the latest regional developments.
“FM Dar stressed the importance of uninterrupted energy supplies and the safe and expeditious passage of ships, particularly given their implications for developing countries and global supply chains,” it said.
According to MoFA, he also underscored that “dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable means” to ensure peace and stability in the region.

The ministry further added that two ministers agreed to maintain close cooperation and to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
Separately, Dar also spoke with Malaysian Foreign Minister Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan on Saturday, discussing Pakistan-Malaysia bilateral relations, the MoFA said in a post on X.
“The two ministers discussed ways to expand trade and economic cooperation,” the MoFA said.
According to the ministry, they underscored the importance of “sustained high-level engagement” to further strengthen ties between Pakistan and Malaysia.

Both also agreed to meet in New York on the sidelines of the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the MoFA said.
Pakistan plans fresh diplomatic push
Pakistan is preparing to send another high-level delegation to Tehran in a fresh diplomatic push aimed at breaking the stalemate between Iran and the United States as well as containing rapidly escalating tensions between Saudi Arabia and Yemen’s Houthis, officials said on Friday.
There was no official confirmation of the planned visit from Islamabad or Tehran. However, a senior government official told The Express Tribune that another visit to the Iranian capital was being planned and could take place very soon.

The official did not disclose the composition of the delegation, but diplomatic and government sources indicated that Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi was likely to lead the delegation.
The proposed visit comes at a particularly sensitive moment for Pakistan, which has been trying to maintain its role as a bridge between Iran and the United States while simultaneously managing its growing security commitments to Saudi Arabia.
